Impulsive Treasure Hunt

OH. MI. GWOSH!! SO……this randomly happened!

First group shoot

Eeeeepppp!!! I can’t believe this happened! I finally took the bull by the horn and pursued a dream I’ve had for sooooooooo long…11 years to be exact. Remember I mentioned in my Reston Rays post that I desired to pursue a career in print modeling? Well, I took the first step and enrolled in a workshop in which I learn how to develop and brand myself. It has been an amazingly exciting journey; never thought I’d be here….AT ALL. Like neveeeerrrr eveerrrrr!! UNTIL one day, last year I decided that I wouldn’t go through 2015 singing the “shoulda coulda woulda” song. I did not want to stand on December 31, 2015 regretting not pursuing a dream of mine. I needed to fight for what I wanted, so I made a decision that scared me half to death. As in, I was literally trembling when I initially inquired about the studio and when I asked to enroll in the workshop. Fast forward to a few months later, and VOILA; I have some head/beauty shots, a few full body shots (see below), and that BEAUTIFUL B&W picture up there (Enough to create a portfolio; I may need help here)….is she feeling herself?..No, I’m celebrating this first step because it required me to have enough confidence to walk through the doors. I still stare at that picture and wonder “Is that really me?”

That picture was taken during a work/play session with the stunning Marquasha Wilson whom I actually met 2 hours before this shot. I went into the studio thinking I had a workshop, but got there to discover Marquasha had a play session scheduled. You’d think she would have had a fit, but nope. Our energy was unlike any other; besides the striking resemblance, it felt like we were long lost sisters. We sounded alike, sang on set, and made jokes. Shooting with her was such a blast! The family at JazzyStudios is simply just that….A FAMILY. The family consists of photographers, stylists, hair stylists, make-up artists, and models. Not once have I felt like an outsider, or a rookie. The team really believes in each person who walks through the doors, and it is so encouraging to know that people with so much knowledge, information, and such a large network believe in YOU. They see the you that you don’t even see yet! #Blessed

While I celebrate my itty bitty step with this post, which I tried to talk myself out of several times, I’d like to also encourage the reader…YES YOU!

Whatever it is that you feel you’d like to do deeply in your heart; that dream that makes you grin endlessly when you think about it, or see yourself walking in it…GO FOR IT! DO IT NOW! No dream is too big or impossible. Don’t take another moment to think about what others may think, or whether you are “good enough.” JUST DO IT! You’ll never know until you try. TRY. IT. The bible says “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 With God ALL things are possible!

What’s the worst that could happen? You fail? I’ve heard, and I’m currently learning that failure doesn’t occur in the absence of success, but in the process of it. It’s all a process. So what you discover “it” isn’t for you, at least you took that step to pursue it. So what you realize you’re not knowledgeable about it, GOOGLE is there to help…LEARN IT! I once heard that a little step taken in pursuit is worth more than a grand stance in stagnancy (paraphrased). NEVER EVER GIVE UP! Put in the work you believe your dream’s worth. I could go on and on about how you need to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and run with your vision, but you get the point.

Remember to enjoy the journey and celebrate every step of the way. I’m talking to myself as well. WE CAN DO THIS! Where there is a will there is a way!

Press Forward,

Until next time RADsters! XOXO
